BANG! / explosive chemicals, glass, rubber and socle / 200 × 30 × 30 cm / 2013–2014
The announcement in front of the exhibition space serves as a warning about the exhibition, which first appears harmless and museum-like with an arrangement of white pedestals. Presented on top of each pedestal is an exquisitely designed, hand-blown glass object, consisting of multiple chambers. These are filled with substances that are clearly different from one another in color and texture. The interplay of colors, distortions, and reflections of light recall traditional Murano glass and the beauty of the vessels reveals nothing about the danger of an imminent explosion as announced by the flyer Nonetheless, they allude to this, even if only as a possibility: if the various substances — each separated only by a thin glass barrier — were actually mixed together, they would produce an explosion.
